Why Study In CANADA?

Canada is an increasingly popular alternative to the United States for International students who want the quality of a North American University Education.
• Canada is a truly multicultural nation with - away from the prairies - a very different culture in comparison with the US
• Canadian universities are far more like their counterparts in the UK than across the border and standards are uniformly high
• Four Canadian universities are in the Top 100 of the 2012 QS World University Rankings: McGill University (17); University of Toronto (23); the University of British Columbia (51); and the University of Alberta (100)
• Quebec is proudly bilingual and, although McGill University is English language, a good knowledge of French or a willingness to learn will be anasset in the vibrant city of Montreal.

Entry and visa regulations

• Entry to Canada is dependent on sufficient funds to pay for tuition fees, living expenses and a return ticket home
• Character and health checks are also made and may involve a police check or a medical examination, or both
• A study permit is issued on arrival against a written notification of acceptance on a course.

Staying On After Study

The Post-Graduation Work Permit Program allows graduates who have been studying in Canada for more than eight months to stay on to work after graduation.

Work Rights During Studies

• There are two types of work rights that students may be eligible for while studying in Canada - On campus and Off Campus.
• Students can work on campus at the institution in which they are enrolled without work permit if they are full time student, holding a valid study permit, at an eligible institution.
• A student can apply for an off campus work permit if he/she has been a full-time student, with a valid study permit, at one of the institutions authorized by the Canadian Government. In addition, the student must have been a full-time student for at least 6 of the 12 months prior to applying for the work permit and must have achieved satisfactory academic standing.
• For both on campus employment and the off campus work permit, students can work up to 20 hours per week during study sessions and full time during vacations

Work After Studying In Canada

• If your course duration is less than 2 years but more than 8 months, you will be eligible for work permit for a period no longer than the length of your program of study.
• If your course duration is 2 years or more, you may be eligible for a work permit for up to 3 years.
• One of the major advantages of making the decision to study in Canada is that graduates have access to a Post-Graduation Work Permit on completion of their studies in Canada. Post-Graduation Work Permits allow certain individuals who have studied in Canada to stay and work under an open work permit for up to three years, allowing them to enter the Canadian orkforce and gain valuable Canadian work experience that may help them to immigrate permanently.

COST OF STUDY & SCHOLARSHIPS

Studying in Canada is a rewarding investment in your future with access to a premier education, exciting cross-cultural experiences, and a globally recognized degree. Not unlike going to school in your own country, university or college in Canada for international students requires some degree of planning and financial commitment before you arrive, and while you are here.
Affordable tuition: Studying abroad can be expensive, but Canada offers relatively low tuition rates for international students compared to the U.K., Australia and the U.S. This means you can pursue your studies in a globally recognized program of your choice at one of Canada’s top universities for nearly half of what it would cost to attend a similar program at a private U.S. university.

Accommodation:
If you are planning to study in Canada, you will need somewhere to live. Many schools offer on-campus housing ranging from shared condominiums to dormitory- style housing. The cost for these may or may not include a meal plan and or other utilities such as phone and internet connection. If you choose to live off-campus, prices may be lower but will include the additional cost of furnishings, hydro, electricity and/or other miscellaneous expenses.

Other costs of living: Student life isn’t all about studying. Whether you want to head out with friends, travel to the other side of the country, or explore the many cultural events our cities have to offer, you’ll need to set aside some extra spending money. Some international students choose to study and work in Canada to help cover the cost of these extra expenses.

Benefits of Studying in Canada:

• International students who graduate from Canadian Institutions enjoy successful and prosperous careers
